week 10 (FYP2)

Title: Testing Peltier module

Objective:

  • To test the Peltier module.
  • To measure the output.
Activity:

In this week, the student continues to test the module which is the last time the student test it and fail to show some promising result. This week the student has already purchased 5 new module to be connected in series. The student also purchased a small metal bowl in square shape work as a heatsink to put the module. The picture below shows the Peltier was connected in series and stick below the metal bowl.

After arranging the module at the bowl, the student now cut the remaining wire so it can be solder or connected together. After the student solder the need part then the student put on some tape to prevent some conductive of the wire through the metal bowl. the picture below shows how it has done.

After all the desire part was completed by the student, now the student continues to make a stand for the bowl as the picture below shows.

The bowl with the module then put on the stand as it will give some gap to not too close to the heat. The bottom of the bowl that covered by the module, the student add some metal plate to protect the module from direct heat and stick it by using thermal compound both side of the module. The thermal compound that used work as a heat conductor, this is because once the module that sticks in between the metal bowl and the metal plate there is going to have some gap that cannot be seen by naked eye, thus, the thermal compound will surround the gap and work as a heat conductor to spread the heat entire the module surface. After the preparation is all steadily ready, the student now connected the voltmeter to the output of the series connected module which will display the output voltage of the module. The picture below shows the experiment being done.

Conclusion:

This concludes the activity for this week where the experiment was given a promising output. The FYP 2 project progress will continue in the next week.
